The Old Courts in Wigan has been a much-needed cultural shot-in-the-arm for the town these last few years and tonight’s performance of the McKiernan/Boyle-scripted dark comedy proves, yet again, that you don’t need to schlep all the way into Liverpool or Manchester to see innovative drama or genuine talent. The one-man play’s premise - a lonely undertaker’s sister’s death revealing some alarming truths about who he thought he was - is simultaneously troubling and hilarious.
