MemorabLEIGH local history/reminiscence group is led by professional writer and local history specialist, Julie McKiernan. During the workshops, you will share and discuss local history information about Leigh and the surrounding area in the form of artefacts, videos, photographs, audio recordings, newspaper articles, family trees, personal memories, food and drink, etc. You don’t need to be an expert in local history or even know much about the local area just have a lively interest and curiosity. There are further opportunities to explore local history in organised trips, guided walks, exhibitions and recordings.
The group meets at The Old Grammar School in Railway Road in a room which is suitable for those with mobility issues.
What group members say:
My hairdresser even said, “I think this has done you a power of good!” I’ve enjoyed meeting everybody because we’ve all joined in together no matter what our backgrounds. I’ve felt selfish in the past for not sharing what I know so it’s felt good to be generous with my memories.
I agree that 'Past Projects' could go under 'Our Work'.
